I am currently a Freshman at the University of Texas at El Paso. For my english course this semester, I chose the topic of the institution of marriage. I wish I could say that I have a deep connection to the topic...or at least a good reason to choose it. I don't. In all honesty, and I am hoping that using the honesty card puts me in a good light, I chose this topic simply because I thought it would be interesting. I think that people have a very...pre-meditated idea of happiness and what they need to make of their future in order to fulfill this dream. I find it really interesting that marriage is so popular when, slowly but surely, the amount of hypocrisy regarding the subject increases in society. I'm not saying that I'm against marriage either, heavens no. I suppose, for the moment, I would prefer to see this specific topic from a spectators perspective.
